Penny. Penny. Juliet was sure she’d heard the name mentioned before, but she couldn’t quite place it, so she let it slide. If she or anyone on this island knew this woman, she’d find out soon enough, she figured. First things first, she needed to get this woman to the camp and have Jack check her, just to be sure. She’d been shipwrecked, she could’ve sustained injuries, though at first sight she looked pretty okay.
“Camp’s this way. Do you feel alright? No cuts or sprains that need treatment? No dizzy spells?”
Standard procedure, but if there was one thing Juliet had learned from this island, it was the real meaning of “better safe than sorry”. Awaiting Penny’s answer, Juliet took the lead in heading towards camp, taking a small shortcut through the jungle.
“Mind your step, there might be traps. Nothing to be too worried about, but just to be sure.”
Of course Rousseau’s traps were something to worry about, but that sure wouldn’t calm down Penny’s nerves. Aside from that, Juliet didn’t actually expect to find any traps here, but a fair warning was in order. They walked along in silence for another long moment before Penny broke the silence. The remark made Juliet chuckle.
“Yes, that much I knew. But you see, there’s no set-in-stone coordinates for this island. It’s…a bit complicated, I’m afraid.”
Penelope made her way through the jungle, looking through the leaves to make sure she didn’t step on any trap. Why were there any in the first place? And how could they be ‘nothing to worry about’? But she couldn’t allow herself to panic any more than she already way because although she was calm and collected at first sight she was a little scared as to what this place was.
“No, nothing at all. Only a small cuts and bruises here and there. Thankfully nothing too serious,” she said letting out a small smile which Juliet didn’t catch as she was walking in front of her.
As the two made their way to the camp Penelope listened to every sound. It was so much more than she expected. Birds, animals, sounds of rushing water, all enhanced. As Juliet let out a small chuckle so did Penny. “I was looking for this island. It was difficult to find, but my ship picked up a signal that lead me here. Ship wreckage wasn’t in my plans however,” she said letting out a small sigh.
“So where is this camp that you’re taking me to?” Penny finally decided to ask. Was it a couple of tents on a beach? Or was there some place ales to live in considering it looked like a communication station that she got a signal from. Either way it would be better than staying beside her broken ship and was glad Juliet found her.
Juliet halted in her tracks at Penny’s confession about how she came to be on this island, turning around to face the woman, her expression now pulled into a thorough frown rather than a kind smile. She’d been looking for this island, picked up a signal? Then it dawned on her. The Looking Glass station. She hadn’t gotten every detail about what had happened, save for Charlie getting out just in time to avoid drowning, but they had mentioned having contact with the outside world.
“What type of signal did you pick up? Did you actually talk to someone?”
Slowly starting to move again, this time Juliet kept Penny in her peripherals, watching her closely as she awaited the answer. Then the question about the camp. She wished she could tell her she was taking her to a civilized place, but other than a few makeshift tents, a lean-to and something that could pass for a kitchen, there really wasn’t much. But it was something, at least.
“It’s a camp the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 set up on the beach shortly after they crashed. If you haven’t heard the story on the news…well, I’m sure people at our camp will be more than happy to explain the real story to you.”

[EEEEEP *hides*]
Where exactly am I?
Juliet’s face went from a kind smile to a thoughtful look. How exactly was she supposed to explain that nobody knew the exact location of the island? She took a deep breath to try to do it as best as she could, anyway.
“Well, you’re on an island. I can’t exactly tell you where, though, since none of us know the exact location of this island.”
She noticed the woman’s weak smile before the remark, and it caused her lips to arch into a small smile as well. In response to the remark, she produced a soft chuckle.
“It’s not every day that we have a ship wash up on shore here.”
Not every day, but not the first time. The island had a habit of attracting travelers in the worst ways; plane crashes, hot air balloons caught in trees, shipwrecks…the weirdest accidents happened around and on this place. She just didn’t feel the need to tell the woman that.
Putting the firewood down, Juliet extended a hand towards the shipwrecked stranger to introduce herself. The least she could do was be polite, and offer this woman her name and a place to stay.
“I’m Juliet, by the way. Would you like to come with me to our camp? We’ve got food, water and shelter there. And if I bring some wood, we’ve got a nice fire in the evening, too.”
As the woman extended her hand for introduction Penny felt she could trust her. Naturally she had good intuition which was partially responsible for her ending up here anyway. She smiled and shook her hand, speaking as clearly as she could with her voice dry from salty water. “It’s good to meet you. I’m Penelope. Although, people usually call me Penny,” she explained. Shelter and food. Clearly Juliet spent a while on the island and there absolutely are other survivors.
That’s when Penny’s thoughts wrapped around Desmond. Just the idea of still being alive, and of coarse he must be. She remembered the blonde man communicating with her a while back mention his name. He must be okay. “Thanks, it’s very kind of you,” she said as a chuckle spread across her lips.
Penny waited for Juliet to lead the way and wondered whether they should check the boat inside, but decided she could always come back. Later. Right now going to her camp would be a much better idea. “We’re in the South Pacific. But I think you may have already known that,” said Penelope as she cut through silence that’s been there for longer than she liked.

Tadaaa. My jumpsuit, with the Motor Pool logo, the Dharma clipboard and the seasick pill bottle, that I took the liberty of adding another pic of as well.
I still need to add a few finishing touches and embroider “Juliet Burke - Motor Pool” onto the pocket just under the Motor Pool logo, but it’s starting to look like something!
[Guys I don’t have a habit of posting OOC pictures here a lot, but I just really love my Dharma jumpsuit and all the accessories I have for it. Aside from the items in this picture, I have a Dharma first aid kit and Dharma Orientation Files that are going to be on my clipboard when I do the actual cosplay.
Examples of that:

Juliet was up early that morning, gathering fruit for breakfast and various pieces of dry wood for the fire that evening. At least if she did it now, she wouldn’t have to trudge along the jungle in the evening. When she was done, she decided she would go to the beach to relax a little, to let the waves roll in over her feet and contemplate her next move now that she was on this part of the island. She’d soon realize that that plan wasn’t going to work at all.
As soon as she made her way through the jungle on the far side of the beach, she noticed something out of the ordinary. Various pieces of wood seemed to have drifted onto shore, but she had no idea where they came from. Curious as to where on earth they came from, Juliet followed traces of wood along the beach. It didn’t take her very long to find the source of the wood; a large wreckage of what had once been a ship had keeled into the sand, its crew nowhere to be found…or was it?
After a moment or so of staring at the wreckage in disbelief, Juliet noticed movement from the corner of her eye. A woman, somewhere in her thirties, looking fairly distressed, was running towards the remains of the ship. Chances were very likely that it was hers. Juliet decided to approach carefully, studying the woman’s actions for a long moment before finally talking to her.
“Is this your ship?”
The question was obvious, but she couldn’t think of anything else to say without startling the woman. She seemed upset enough already.
The amount of wood on the beach made Penny’s hopes die out little by little and when she could finally see it clearly Penelope’s mind was wrapped around one thought: what is she to do next? The scattered wood around the beach made her want to cry, but she was too tired for that and crying wouldn’t do anything. The boat was nowhere near fixable.
She stopped running as she heard the leaves of nearby bushes tremble, afraid of what was coming. The surroundings were unfamiliar and she could expect anything – from a person to a vicious animal who was looking for prey. Thankfully it was the first, and with frozen look on her face Penelope could see a blonde woman, tan, with wood in her hands come out of the jungle. Both her and Penny’s eyes switched focus from a person before them to the boat and finally the woman spoke.
“Is that your ship?” Penny nodded and took a second to recollect her thoughts before answering. “Yes. That’s my ship… or at least what’s left of it…” Her eyes drew back to the wooden structure and then back at the woman before her. “Where exactly am I?” – She asked, though it was obvious she was on an island she simply wanted a confirmation. Trying to make a bit more of a conversation she nodded at the wood the woman was carrying and gave a weak smile, looking around at the pieces of what once used to be her only way of getting to and off the island, “guess you wasted your time finding wood if there’s plenty to go around.”

One Of Us l “I was standing right beside you when that sub blew up. I saw your face. I saw that you want, more than anything, to get off this island, that’s what we all want. That makes you one of us.”
Well, that sure didn’t seem like a good sign. At least he hadn’t crashed or shipwrecked onto the island, but the last thing they needed right now was for more armed men to make their way onto the island. She pursed her lips in disapproval of the entire situation, determined to fix this later on. First, there were questions that needed to be answered, from both sides.
“Well…I’d say welcome to the island. You’ve landed yourself a long way from home, mister. I can take you to a more civilized environment, maybe even help you get off the island, but you’d have to at least give me a name. I’m not the enemy, and you don’t look like the enemy either. So what do you say we put down our weapons and head back to the village?”
Daryl clenched his jaw. It seemed like a damn good offer, especially coming from a woman who seemed to be very well taken care of. But he wasn’t stupid. He knew it could all be a trap. It seemed that everything was now, anyway. Hell, he hadn’t even been planning on going hunting that day. A man with blonde hair and a pointy nose had told him there was an entire family of deer off in the woods near his trailer - and that was the only reason he’d gone out that day. If he hadn’t been around, the redneck still would’ve been back in the States instead of there on that damn island.
Hesitantly, his eyes still watching Juliet’s every move, Daryl lowered his crossbow. “Daryl,” He said gruffly. “Name’s Daryl.” He paused for a moment, leaning off to one side, still studying her. “What village ‘re you talkin’ about? An’ where is it?” He asked, tilting his chin up at the blonde. He had a lot of questions buzzing in his skull, but he decided not to ask them. Not yet.
“Well, for what it’s worth: nice to meet you, Daryl.”
Juliet offered him a smile despite how awkward the situation between them was at this point, and readied herself for the oncoming storm of questions. She was surprised when he only asked her two. What village, and where. Her smile grew a little; this was an easy question to answer, at least.
“There’s a village not far from here. It was originally built by scientists who wanted to explore the island and experiment with certain energy sources that can be found here. I’m not a scientist, though. I’m a fertility doctor.”
Juliet looked the man up and down, now wondering what his occupation was. He didn’t look to be a doctor, or an office guy for that matter. And the weaponry he was carrying sure didn’t fit those images either. Maybe he was a hunter, that’d at least make sense.
“So, what’s it you do for a living? Hunting?”
